About MultiFirefox

MultiFirefox is a small launcher utility that allows you to run multiple versions of Firefox side-by-side. It helps you set up multiple profiles (one or more for each version of Firefox), remembers your last launch preferences for easy launching, has auto-updating built in for when we make improvements, and is 100% open source, MIT licensed.

It is written natively in Objective-C, but was originally written in Python and wxPython. Posted below are links to all of the pertinent downloads.

MultiFirefox has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times since its inception, and discussed on Lifehacker and made their top downloads, was a staff pick on Apple’s downloads site, and is even used by some of the Firefox development team at Mozilla.

Hallo Dave!

I’m using multifirefox since june 2008. I’m running FF 1.5.0.12, FF 2.0.0.16, FF 3.o.19 and FF 3.5.8 on OSX 10.4.11 (Intel). And I’m loving it!
Multifirefox always worked fine. But it seems not to work with new FF 3.6.13. I tried to fix the problem by upgrading Mulifirefox to 2.1.001 – but this made no difference. Do you have an solution?

Hallo Dave!

Multifirefox is showing up FF 3.6.13 but it is not launching it.

I’m using two Profiles “Secure-Proxy” (with Http-Proxy settings in FF) and “Standard” (no changes).
FF 3.6.13 isn’t launching in both profiles. Indeed Multifirefox is closing down normally after selecting the profile and clicking the “Launch Firefox” button. But then nothing happens.

Hi,

I seem to be missing something here, but is there manual or a ‘howto’ somewhere? How does one setup multiple FF versions?

I am not able to install multiple FF versions. I have one instance installed (3.6.16) and when I download another one (4.0), open the DMG and drag the app to my applications folder, then I (still) get the prompt that says that there’s already FF version and if I would like to overwrite it…

I tried putting FF 4.0 in another folder(Applications/FF4) -that works- but MultipleFirefox still only shows one FF version. (It’s listed as just ‘Firefox’)

Any help would be appreciated!

I had the same issue and resolved it by renaming the firefox.app to firefox4.app and moving into the main apps directory. It looks like it won’t pick up an installation of firefox inside apps subdirectory.
